Smoke composites handguard install
The short pull is 0.89oz lighter than the rifle length, but unfortunately for me, I’m a tall, lanky guy. I’ve tried the short pull stock, and short stocks on other’s builds and it just doesn’t feel right for me. I much prefer a longer length of pull. Here’s a breakdown of the specs from the Smoke Composites’ site:Cons: Slightly more expensive, it's composite and delamination might be an issue in the future, aluminum barrel nut. My observations so far. Only time will tell with the smoke composites handguard in relation to possible delamination. Based on reviews they can take a beating. My current upper setup is 16" BSF carbon fiber barrel, APA The Answer brake/comp, Coda Evolution carbon fiber handguard, Blitzkrieg hydraulic buffer with short stroke weight, & a 1 pound TriggerTech Diamond.

The only issue I have - which is different in the Faxon and Smoke Composites - is there are just thin holes in the carbon fiber with little bolts holding it to the metal mounting ring. It was never installed on my rifle, I ultimately decided to special order one from them a little longer for my application. Smoke Composites does excellent work, this is a very nice piece. Barrel nut and screws are included. Smoke Composites has an off the shelf 7.25" which "might" work but it'd be tight trying to get fingers in there to adjust the gas with a suppressor on.
